Heart of a Child was established in 2018 to advance positive change in the early childhood landscape, increase evidence informed innovation in policy and practice, & promote expansion of high quality services in early care and learning and early childhood integrated systems.

Reeva Murphy’s work spans over 40 years working with young children and families, early childhood professionals, public officials, and policymakers in roles that ranged from direct service, mentoring ECE professionals, and managing ECE programs to complex integrated program implementation on a state level. She holds her M.Ed in ECE and ECSE and has worked in private ECE programs and public education as a teacher and an administrator, and provided consultation, mentoring and professional development locally, regionally and nationally. She spent 18 years working on child care and early education in state government in RI and VT.

Laura Murphy has been working with children and families for 13 years, in a variety of settings including Head Start, community-based child care, public school,  and direct service in the home.  She holds a BA in Community Education from Goddard College, with a focus on building sustainable learning communities. She has experience in program administration, staff development, family communication, and program assessment and improvement. She works at Heart of a Child to support the mission of ensuring all families have equitable access to a variety of high quality child care options that fit their needs.
